Question

How can I burn a DVD with the Toshiba DR430 from an SD card in my Canon camera that will then play on my TV.

I have a Canon Vixia HF M300 HD camera which I have connected to the Toshiba. I can burn a DVD that will only play through the Toshiba, but not a TV.

If the DVD can play only in your DVD recorder, it sounds like the DVD hasn’t been finalized. With the DVD in the recorder, open the DVD Menu and select “Finalize.” This may take a few minutes, but once the DVD is finalized, it will be playable in other players.

There are many cable formats besides S-video that should still allow you to connect your equipment. Unfortunately, without knowing the model number of your TV or what devices you are attempting to connect, I can’t provide specific help.

Question

How do I prevent a timer recording disc from finalizing?

When I use the timer programming feature of my DR570KU DVD Video Recorder to record, the DVD-R disc is automatically finalized at the end of the recording. How can I prevent the disc from finalizing so I can edit the title? Thanks.

To prevent discs from auto-finalizing at the completion of timer programming, press “SETUP” on the remote and select “General Setting.” Next select “Recording” and then “Auto Finalize.” Select “End of Timer Rec” and change the selection to “OFF.” You can similarly change the auto-finalize setting for a full disc as well. Exact instructions would depend on what type of recording you’re attempting to perform, such as timer, one-touch, etc. To record from channel 2 and not L2, make sure it’s set to TV mode on the TV/CATV option. For more information, please see the user’s guide available at the following link:

Question

Dvd player SD7200KU/SDK990KU - how to restart a movie where it last left off when power to the DVD is turned off

It is becoming very annoying that when I want to resume a movie (e.g. the following day), that I have to restart from the beginning and find the chapter where I think I left off. What do I press to resume the movie? (or better yet, what setting do I set so it automatically resumes at the last point when power is turned on like my Philips DVD player does)?

I do not see this mentioned anywhere in the manual I received with the DVD.

The SD7300 plays DVDs, SVCDs, VCDs, MP3s, and a JPGs. As such, you would not be able to play the MP4 natively. You can try making a DVD, SVCD, or VCD from the video. For more information about the capabilities of your device, check the user’s guide that can be found at the following link:

Without a specific model number, I can’t give specific instructions. Many Toshiba TVs natively support Netflix. However, if your TV does not, you can connect a Netflix-equipped Blu-ray player or PC to your TV. Please check the support site at the following link to determine if your TV supports Netflix and for instructions on how to go about using it:
